The vibe you want from a coffee shop. Great inside, great outside, great in the middle. Full coffee menu and fuller food menu, everything we had was great. Get the spice girl and a biscuit with compote and you won’t need to overspend or overeat for brunch.

The coffee is pretty good here! The food is a bit pricey for what it is in my opinion but still tasty. It’s a cute place to get some work done! It can be a tight squeeze some times but nonetheless it has great service and a nice staff!

I am beyond glad I found this cafe. Friendly staff, well made espresso drinks, and delicious food! I had an espresso tonic, seasonal quiche (with a peppery side salad), and a pom bomb. That pom bomb blew me away and I was so impressed by it I went and got a peach loaf slice and starry night brownie (my least favorite, a little dry to me) to go because I had to try more. Their bakery items are absolutely worth their price and if I have any excuse to be remotely near Harbinger again I'm coming to try more.

Such a great spot with an amazing garden. Unfortunately while I was checking out idle hands for the first time it started raining. The patio and garden area is very relaxing and the perfect spot to get work done or hang out with a friend while enjoying a coffee. The area is difficult to find parking but it is worth the walk!

General: Such a beautiful spot with great Counter Culture coffee and interesting drinks. Very pricey. Need a bus bin. Staffing will come with time, but bar was slow.Service: They were out of a few basics (jam & honey). I ordered a biscuit and they forgot to ring me up for it. after I paid for everything else, they had me come back and pay for the $4.50 biscuit. Preferably, they just wrote this off but I do understand as a new business, things are tight. However retention >>> $4.50

I just loved everything about this place. It is a perfect gem. Comfortable outdoor seating that feels like an oasis. Staff was pleasant and went out of their way to bring our dog a water bowl even though we didn't ask. Their coffee presentation creates an experience to be savored, not rushed, exactly how coffee should be. Will definitely be returning when we are in the area.

Solid coffee shop with a lovely outdoor courtyard. Their coffee is delicious and they also have a pretty large baked goods selection ("pop-tarts", muffins, bagels, etc). They also offer day-olds at the counter which are still very delicious. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and the cafe is kept very clean. I'd gladly come here again if in the area.

I love this coffee shop! Their lattes are really good (a bit pricey, but so are most coffee shops nowadays). Their quiche is delicious and only $5/slice, and they have delicious croissants and scones, $4 mimosas every day, 20 beers on tap, and a beautiful courtyard to sit in. Note that they don't have WiFi. Would 100% recommend!

I’ve generally had a good experience here at second state. But now there’s an issue.-Beverage experience: I’ve never had a bad drink from this store and the staff have been great with recommendations.-Some background about me:I’ve been in the coffee business (not associated with second state)for over 2 years and have trained 10+ staff members on coffee within the last month. I’m a well trained barista who also worked in a roasting facility.-The issue: considering that you’re spending $22 on a bag of coffee beans, you’d at least expect them to be fresh. Good news! They were fresh… once…There are no roast dates on the bags. A few weeks ago I got a lovely bag of black condor and had it dialed in beautifully on my home espresso setup. I recently purchased another bag of the same variety and I’m having to grind significantly finer to produce a still subpar product. There is no happy medium with old coffee, meaning the coffee either flows like water or doesn’t come out at all. The way it flows and provides no crema tells me that this is an old stale bag.As a consumer, this inconsistency is not something that is drawing me back into this coffee shop.

Visiting Charleston for a week and stopped by for a taste of the local coffee scene. Grabbed a blueberry muffin and asked for a recommendation from the barista working. Ended up with a delicious brown sugar cappuccino. The espresso roast was low acidity with a robust flavor. And the sweetness level was perfect. The muffin was soft and tasted homemade. Definitely worth a stop!

Has been a must-visit place for us every time we go to Charleston since it opened. Food is fantastic and comes out quickly, menu changes but the upside down latte with rose petals and cardamom seems to be a staple and is one of the best lattes I’ve ever had. On our latest visit New Year’s Eve I met the owner Michael as he was managing seating. I was really impressed to see the owner hands on sweating the small details years after opening - this is probably why this place remains so good years after opening. If you haven’t tried it, please go you won’t be disappointed.

Wonderful brunch experience! The energy of this place is very nice. The staff, and food were impeccable. There is a good amount of food menu items including vegan and vegetarian options. Quick. Easy. Delicious. I just stopped in for breakfast and man was that sandwich good. The pimento cheese and ham really separated it from other breakfast sandwiches I’ve had. The runny egg was perfect, bacon thick and meaty, and everything just worked. I did get the feeling that the bun came from a grocery store, but that’s perfectly fine. Would stop by again.
