Delicious coffee, pastry has been downgraded, and seating is hard to find. There is no suggested time limit to sit and a lot of patrons use it as their college library or office. There are more laptops than coffee cups.

I was craving for some caffeine, but this coffee shop was 10 minutes from closing. The barista was so kind and even offered me a sample of their draft oat latte. I decided to order it, but then it just ran out, so she suggested a cold brew mix. The service was great and I walked away happy and with a great fix of caffeine!

This is my spot. I come here almost daily and have coffee talk with two other regulars. It’s become habit. I usually order a flat white, or cortado if I want something smaller in volume. Great spot, great coffee, friendly staff, cozy ambience, and great location by Rittenhouse Park.

The best place to have some coffee in the center city, continently located!Service is always great and friendly. There are long lines during rush hours, so plan ahead. It can be super crowded during lunch time as well. Try their strawberry matcha latte (iced or hot) - that’s my favorite there.
My husband comes almost every morning here for our coffee and hot chocolate. It’s delicious. He also purchased the Chemix for me. There’s space for people to come with their laptops with outlets on bench.

This is a great coffee shop with some local Philly favorites. I had a Caramel Black Salt latte with almond milk, which has a rich coffee flavor but not overly strong/bitter, subtle caramel (sweet but not too sugary), and a fantastic salty finish. The friendly barista steered me towards a glazed donut with vanilla & chocolate drizzles and toasted coconut which is as good or better as any pastry I've had at coffee shops around the world. There is plenty of seating, 6x 2-top tables and plenty of benches and a 15-20 foot work shelf for laptops or simply to enjoy a cappuccino, expresso, latte, or tea with a friend. Definitely coming back!

Elixr is a great roaster-- especially if you're partial to bright, fruity light roasts. Baristas are quite nice and are trained to make EXCELLENT drinks! I really enjoy their rotating espresso roasts. Friends often order the strawberry matcha thing.Note: if you're not familiar with Center City's grid, this location is a bit harder to find VS the one on Wood St near Callowhill. Whenever I meet up with friends here for their first time, I have to share specific directions/photo of the entrance.

Phenomenally crunchy cheese croissant 5 stars. but "no way to warm up" (downside). Latté art varies. Don't come here for tasty coffee - unless you're a connoiseur of sour espresso, drink pour overs, or just don't care about the coffee and come for experience. The place is cozy but crowded. Very slightly above average artizan coffee shop. 3.5 stars

I really enjoyed Elixr on my last day in Philly. My mocha was good and strong. I was especially pleased when the barista asked for confirmation since “that size has 4 shots in it”. ABSOLUTELY! The beignet was also very good, and I would claim was the best donut I had in my time in the city. Elixr will go down as my coffee shop to re-visit if I ever get back this way in my travels.

Recently ordered coffee beans from Nook after doing a bit of research on different coffee shops in the Philadelphia area. Very, very impressed by the quality of the beans as they made an excellent cup of coffee freshly ground in my chemex. Just as impressive as the coffee, however, was the customer service. I received a handwritten note from Mike and Edna thanking me for my order and explaining how they chose to include a sample pack of coffee beans based on the flavor profile of the ones in my order. I have ordered a lot of tea and coffee from different shops across the country and have never experienced such care and attention to detail. I highly recommend you check them out, and I’m looking forward to ordering more from them in the future.

I was staying at a hotel nearby and stumbled into Nook after some googling. This is an *exceptional* coffeehouse. I had a very delicious coffee and a yummy breakfast sandwich, but the highlight was the service. The two people working (I’m assuming they were the owners) were so kind and the woman taking the orders knew every person’s name who came into the cafe in the 20 mins or so I was there. A dozen customers came in and she knew them all! It was very heartwarming. Makes me wish I had a coffeehouse like this one where I live.Go there! Give them all your coffee business!

Fusion of Bakery and Coffee Shop

Nook Bakery & Coffee Bar represents a harmonious blend of a traditional bakery with the modern sophistication of a coffee shop, creating a unique concept that has become a staple in Philadelphia’s culinary and coffee scene. This fusion allows patrons to enjoy the best of both worlds: the aroma of freshly baked goods paired with the meticulous craft of coffee brewing. Nook prides itself on its homemade pastries and bread, baked on-site daily, ensuring freshness and quality. This approach not only enhances the coffee experience but also elevates the bakery aspect, offering a diverse menu that caters to a wide range of tastes and preferences.

Signature Baked Goods and Coffee Pairings

One of the highlights of Nook Bakery & Coffee Bar is its signature baked goods, which include a variety of artisanal pastries, bread, and seasonal treats. The croissants, known for their flaky texture and rich buttery flavor, are a must-try, along with the inventive flavors of their muffins and scones, which change regularly to reflect seasonal ingredients. Nook’s baristas are skilled in suggesting coffee pairings that complement these baked goods, enhancing the flavors and creating a perfect balance between sweet and bitter. The barista(/maybe owner?) gave me an extra iced chai latte just because I was waiting a little longer. He absolutely did not have to do that but it was so sweet and I appreciated it so much!!! It was so good too, just the way I like my chai, and also the blueberry tart I got is delicious. Great vibe here

Fab coffee spot, wish I lived closer! Stopped in for the first time today and the very friendly barista helped me decide what to order. I got an iced cappuccino with house made vanilla bean syrup and it was fantastic! Highly recommend! Not overly sweet or milky, but perfectly balanced. They have that clean and simple vibe inside and lots of tables but it was very busy with most seats taken. Service was very fast, I had my drink within a couple minutes of ordering it. I’d definitely come back to visit again!

I LOVE this place, everything is such good quality it is kinda unbelievable. Coffee is strong and delicious. Just tried the breakfast burrito for the first time, was expecting something frozen and quick, but omg it was cheesy, eggs were delicious, tortilla was crispy like dang, try it the heck out when you can. Would recommend this place for SURE.

A rarity of a coffee shop on the east coast. Of course the coffee is good and they have a bunch of fun drinks but what makes it different is the excellent service. They are always kind, ask questions, make recommendations. Also dog friendly.Lastly, they have pretty good breakfast wraps. It really ain’t that hard and I’m tired of years of overly breaded BECs.

This is a great coffee shop with a great vibe. The staff was very friendly and approachable especially since it was our first time. My wife and I got 3 drinks to try their different menu options. We got a tea, a speciality coffee, and a cold brew. All tasted really great! The food was also good. This coffee shop is also wheelchair accessible. The doors are wider and there is an accessible bathroom. The coffee shop is smaller though so it can present spacing problems during a busier time. They do offer an outdoor table with seating for those who want to drink and eat outdoors at the coffee shop.

Matcha latte used to be delicious & very reliable (smooth, perfect amount of matcha - beautiful green color, and no clumps) but unfortunately it’s a hit or miss now depending on the barista. One barista adds barely any matcha and it isn’t whisked well, super clumpy. Hoping this can improve so I can come back here for my lattes!

First, the coffee was great, and just what I needed after a bit of a rough day the day before. Second, the tables along the window to the right when you enter, are very cool, and worth sitting at. Third, the world’s smallest restroom sign. It’s there, you just have to squint. Fourth, the barista was very nice and the place, though small, was comfortable.

The interior of the cafe may be small, but the quality of the drinks were pretty good. I like the idea of their seasonal drinks (I'm a sucker for a sparkling espresso) but I only drink unsweetened black coffee and their seasonal drinks were sweetened. Whoever is with me tends to get a fancier drink than me though and they enjoy it!I got cold brew twice and the first time it was amazing, second time it was a little under-brewed/lacked body. I was just going to muscle through it and forget about it, but a barista actually asked me how my drink was so I was polite and honest. They offered to remedy my order immediately which was a really nice surprise! That's also why I keep coming back, haha.Staff is super sweet and quickly slings coffee over the counter to satiate a frequent buzz of customers for most of the day. With the small amount of seating, there's a lot of people grabbing a quick cup and leaving. Lots of people stopping in before and during breaks at work.

My university had a reception here. The manager didn’t want us to come in and physically blocked me from entering the space with his body even after I told him I was with the university. He then proceeded to tell me that one of my faculty members did not buy out the entire space and that they were booked. He did not even offer us to order at the bar and then seat ourselves. He just kept insisting that it was booked. My professor even got up to have us come and sit with her and he would not allow it. We sat down at a self-service table. Meanwhile, my professor is negotiating with him to have us get service.and then he came up to us to tell us that he could not serve us until his 2:00 reservation had arrived and ordered and until he served them. He wanted us to wait 20-30 minsAfter he delivered this message he continues to go to the counter and take orders and service to-go guests. He did not have the decency to even serve us water. We left.He wasn’t making sense. He basically asked us to leave by telling us we would have to wait until after the reservation showed up and got servedeven thought they were not even present. All we tried to do was be customers and we were met with humiliation and resistance. Vernick needs to handle their managerial and customer service problem.

So I came here because it had high reviews. However the service was very disappointing. Thinking an establishment like this would hold its customers in its very best interest, I was sadly mistaken. I came here the other night thinking service was going to be great, I order my drink after my colleagues but after I paid the person taking my order, he walked away with total disregard with a misunderstanding of finishing their customer service. I was not asked if I would like my receipts, I had to pull them from the printer myself. And I think the guy even saw this and failed to come over and assist me. He did not wish me a good evening. And failed to point to where the lids and sugar were to supplement my coffee. This Cafe gives Philly and Comcast a bad name. If you are visiting Philly I would steer clear if you are a person of color. And I will not even go into the incident that happened today. As they were unwilling to serve us with our party, and deferred service to a later time, "after another party would arrive." The time of the party would have arrived 10 mins after we had sat. The manager (I will assume because he was in a suit) did not consider the time it would take this table to "order." I think the intention here was to serve us not at all or as late as humanly possible. But I digress. I will not be coming again. And if you are attending AERA this weekend would not recommend.

yes!!! this is my favorite coffee spot. the food is incredible, and so is the coffee! the staff is super friendly and pleasant. the ambience is amazing. the prices are very reasonable, especially for how delicious everything is. whether you are needing a quick pick-me-up coffee, wanting a place for meeting friends, colleagues, or just looking for the perfect cafe to do some remote work, i highly recommend trying this out!! 13 out of 10 🙂
Lovely, bright and elegant ambience. Nice place to go and enjoy a business meeting or chat with a friend or simply enjoy a quality time by yourself. The facilities are clean and well maintained. The Toilets are super clean and nice. It is part of Comcast building. The coffee is not a specialty coffee! The cortado was like coming out or a room hotel Cafè maker. They need to spend of a good barista and quality coffee beans. The prices are high in general. When it comes to service, they are outstanding, bravo! Must try the pastries.I gave low ratings for the coffee and I was critical about it because the name is coffee bar and I came for that. The other point was for the price.Good luck and keep this wonderful quality up.

went in for a iced latte and decided to grab a ham and cheese croissant as well. Asked if they could heat it up which they said they could but when I actually ate it less than 5 minutes after it was completely cold. Croissant was gooey, cheese was hard, and the flavor was pretty mid. It’s fine if it couldn’t be heated up but after agreeing, taking it somewhere for 2-3 minutes, and then serving still cold was odd.

I'm writing this review live from the high top counter facing true West in Shot Tower, watching the yellow leaves fall down from the sycamore tree while sipping on my espresso doble from this baby blue espresso cup with Stevie Ray Vaughn's Little Wing cover in my chorded apple headphones. Okay I don't know if it's actually a sycamore tree but that was the first tree name that came to my head so I let it fly.For full transparency, this is my 2nd time here today and it's only 12:13pm lol so that should tell you everything you need to know. The natural light is flooding in here like that cute girl's DMs getting flooded after she deletes the pics with her boyfriend of 2+ years. Get em up fellas!!There is ample seating in this beautiful open floor plan... hol up let me count..... Okay yeah I counted 32 seats... but don't quote me on that I caught eyes with a few people as I was scanning and it was super awk so I'm not recounting. They make a MEAN Dirty Chai Latte with oat milk, as that is my budded love interest's go-to drink. It's honestly so gas lol I may be a convert from my espresso/black cold brew... but don't tell her that it would go straight to her head and she already be chirping me enough. The staff here always greets me with a smile and has good energy. This is an ideal place to get some work done, sit and read, or take a zoom call with your therapist when in Queen Village. Oh yeah, I read hehe haha :)I could write a whole novel on my newfound love for Queen Village, and I will one day. What a calm, quaint, and character-rich neighborhood this is. I'm starting to love this coffee shop! The drinks are consistently delicious (be sure to try their lavender rose latte), the service is fast, and the Wi-Fi doess what WiFi needs to do. I've honestly never had anything bad on the menu, so go nuts trying things. They won't warm up their pastries, FYI, in case that's a deal breaker for you. This is very understandable if you're in there when they're even a little busy, however - it would murder the workflow and make wait times a pain. This is a small but very popular shop in the middle of a high traffic neighborhood with an elementary school around the corner, so if you're trying to hunker down and have a whole work day, for your own sake, and the sake of the neighborhood, go somewhere else. It's a good spot for a coffee meeting, or an hour or two of work, though. Peak times are early to midday in general, but especially on the weekends, as with most coffee shops.

Great local coffeeshop. The coffee is good and the pastry selection is solid, but the toasts are the standout - they are excellent. The shop has a seasonal selection of spreads on bread and they are all great. The flavored shots are also a highlight. A lot of shops have flavors that are basically just syrup, but Rival bros uses unsweetened flavors. That means you can get a chai latte or a mocha and not have the drink be sickly sweet. One thing to note is that the store is pretty small. Seating is quite limited, so do not expect to be able to get a table during the morning rush. They have outdoor seating but that is even more limited and not very well placed.

Great neighborhood coffee house! I've purchased Rival Bros beans from Whole Foods, but was in the city today and wanted to try one of their two South Philly cafes. It was smaller than I expected but very cozy. Easy parking on a Saturday afternoon. The coffee was very good and cheap! I pay about $2 more per drink at my local coffee shop in Bucks County. They don't even charge extra for flavors in a latte which is unheard of. I had a hot brown sugar latte and my wife had the same thing iced. Both were good, but the iced version was out of this world! Well done, guys.
