Great value; espresso quality not quite onpar with another premium brand

This Philips semi-automatic espresso machine certainly provides great value – you get a lot, including very good build quality, at a price point that’s well below other premium brands. The only trade off (in my opinion) is that the quality of espresso is noticeably below par with those premium brands. And no matter what settings I tried during calibration, I cannot obtain the same taste profile or quality as another premium brand espresso machine that I also have in my house. In terms of design, this is a very typical semi-automatic, with the same bells & whistles of other brands. If this is your first, expect to going through a steep learning process.

    Great espresso with low effort!

This is an amazing espresso machine. It grinds the beans perfectly and is super customizable for quantity and ground size. The espresso brews evenly and the milk steamer makes amazing foam. This is a great all in one machine!

    Solid contender for the home

At the price point of under $650, it is a solid contender. the main competition is the breville barista express, and maybe be delonghi la specialista. the greatest selling point for this is the PID, calibrated tamper and coffee ground funnel into the portafilter. This is a semiautomatic, so there is an easy mode but also a way for you to dial in your taste too. As an entry level machine into espresso, this is a pretty feature packed machine with the PID and steam wand. The steam wand is so-so… you’ll be able to make latte art with the frothed milk but it’s a bit tricky to get that required consistency. the grinder has 15 grind options but the finest grind is not as fine as you’d get on single purpose grinders. The funnel is somewhat genius in that it will catch all coffee grounds so that none of it falls out prior to ramping to ensure you get the whole amount. The aesthetic is unlike the other Philips branded futuristic look, but more like the classic utilitarian look. after a month of use/play, machine still heats up quickly with the PID, I have not had any issues with water leaks, and have been able to extract consistent espresso. the steam wand is good for frothing milk but it you’ll need another milk jug and do the 2 jug method to get the foam consistency for latte art. I don’t use the Americano feature much but it does work in adding hot water into the extracted espresso. having owned the breville, I would say this is a toss up between the two, maybe savoring this one slightly due to the tamper and funnel.

I like calling out the wrong name……

Up until recently I had two coffee machines sitting on my counter, and would use them both daily as I like to have options.I use the K brand in the morning for my regular coffee, and the N brand for afternoons and after dinner espressos. This machine now replaces the two, but I will admit that my coffee bean collection has started to grow.If you like a variety of coffee blends and flavours (like the options available to you with the two aforementioned brands) then a dedicated machine like this might not be for you.I don’t mind housing a few different flavoured beans, especially when my local shop allows me to buy small quantities to try them out.Once you get the beans home is where the fun starts, and being able to select your coarseness of beans is just the beginning.I wish this machine had the hopper that allowed you to put two different flavoured beans in at once like others have, but it’s not a deal breaker that’s for sure.A good thing to remember when selecting your grind setting, is how you like your coffee.A simple rule is the finer the grind the more time the water has to filter through the “beans” the greater chance of it becoming bitter, but it is the recommended setting for espresso. The larger the grind the faster the water will pass over the “bean”, and you run the risk of it being too weak in flavour. This machine will allow you the ability to mix things up, so don’t get discouraged if your first few cups aren’t the best. One of the other good things about this machine is that you can adjust the water temperature to make a hotter beverage……which for me is great as I like a hot cup of coffee.

I like the whole process of filling the bean hopper, adding the filter to the portafilter, tamping down the beans, and then even giving the milk frother a go, but the best part that always makes me laugh is calling out the wrong name of my wife every time I have her coffee ready, it makes me feel like a real barista. LOL…If you don’t mind taking a bit of time to truly make yourself a good espresso or coffee, then this machine is perfect for you.

    Extraordinario.

    Better than Starbucks

I’m brand new to making anything besides Mr Coffee, but I got addicted to peppermint mochas at Starbucks and decided to buy a machine for home use. I had this setup within an hour. It was very easy minus the grinder, which I didn’t install correctly at first. Totally my mistake. Once it was corrected, it worked beautifully. My first attempt at a homemade peppermint mocha was even better than theirs! I’m so excited and really happy with this machine.

    Love it!

Absolutely love this machine! I’m just getting into espresso so I had another machine that was way less expensive. You can definitely taste the difference with this machine. The only thing is I tried to put it under my cabinet on my kitchen counter and because of the coffee grinder part sticking up, it does not fit. Other than that this makes the best espresso!

    Amazing espresso machine

This is a very well assembled machine. It has enough functionality to eliminate a few tools, but has intuitive operation so you can figure it out in short order. The built in burr grinder is powerful enough to get the job done, and produces a nice fine and evenly ground coffee. The fact that every cup is from fresh ground beans makes every cup taste bold and full. I’m on my second Americano and it’s a perfect temp and boldness, all from one button..!

    Semi-Auto Works Great; Well Made

The first thing to know about this machine is that it is a *serious* espresso machine. It has all of the manual features you need to express yourself with espresso in just the way you’d like. At the same time, once it’s set up it can be used in a fairly automated way: The machine will grind just the amount of coffee for a single or double shot; the brew time is automated; and there is an Americano button to add hot water to the expresso for just the right Americano cup. There is a lot to know if you’re going to do it manually, and there are quite a few adjustments required even for a semi-automated process. My strong suggestion is go find the manufacturers Youtube video for the specific machine you’re using once you have it set up. The printed instructions are mostly clear but refer to drawings that are not numbered properly, and as these things go, are a little hard to understand. The Phillips YouTube video makes all things clear.Except one.The Coffee bean holder on the top allows you to store two different types of coffee beans. You can set it to type A or type B, And it will grind your coffee from those beans, so far so good. There is also an “A/B” setting and a “B/A” — but nothing in the documentation about exactly how these work or what they do.They could be the same and give you a mix of bin A and B; it might be that they use one and then the other if the first one is out. I have no idea. We have inquired of Phillips and will amend this if we get a reasonable answer. Also, there are lots of things to be sure they are adjusted correctly and it’s a little fussy about those things. The water tank can seem to be fully seated but it won’t be, which means the machine will not cycle until the water tank is properly seated so something to watch out for. The grinder has two arrows in the internal parts of the grinder that need to be aligned and two lines on the external part of the grinder that need to be aligned with the unit. If both things are not aligned the grind will not happen. (Ask me how I know both of these things 😮 )Having said that, this never-used-an-espresso-machine-before (but longtime major coffee shop money spender) knocked off a very tasty double espresso on the first try that was — dare I say it? — a perfect rich brown color with a shockingly perfect light crema, and a perfect (for me) flavor. Can’t wait to experiment. (Have not stepped up to Steamed Milk yet, but it has a wand and it does make steam! )Meanwhile, I have gone back and forth about the frustration over the documentation, and considered dropping a star. But that does the unit an injustice because it really is a nice quality machine.

    This is a game changer

The Phillips espresso coffee maker is a top choice for espresso enthusiasts, whether they are beginners or seasoned baristas. It boasts a well-thought-out design with convenient features like separate buttons for single and double espressos, along with Americano.Adjusting the grind size and amount is a breeze, thanks to its user-friendly design. The 58 mm portafilter with a larger group head surface area ensures a consistent and efficient flow of the extract. The precision adjustable tamper, with depth adjustment and a sleeve that acts as a stop, rivals those found in higher-end models. Additionally, the included filter baskets offer quality options for both dual and single walls.Achieving the perfect coffee strength is a straightforward process after a few trial runs. The grinder, which works well with both light and dark roasted beans, is of exceptional quality.

    Easy to use, well constructed

My wife is a coffee junkie. I play barista. I’ve tried a bunch of different coffee machines looking for the balance of cost, quality and performance. I think the Phillips Barista Brew really hits the mark. It is quite intuitive to use. Comes with most everything you need (besides good beans and pure water). It doesn’t cost thousands like a very high end espresso machine, yet the quality is far above the the lower end machines. All in all 5 stars from me.

    Makes my mornings better

This espresso machine is impressive. It’s easy to use and I enjoy making delicious lattes almost daily. I am not a morning person, so this machine has done a lot to make my morning a little bit better. Overall, I’m very happy with the grinding and brewing abilities. I’m still ‘warming up’ to the milk steamer, since that is not automatic and I’m still figuring out best techniques. What I liked✅ Grounded cord – I always have more confidence using a kitchen appliance when I see there’s a grounded cord. Especially because there’s water involved.✅ Grinder setting is easy to change, as is the amount dispensed.✅ Drip tray is easy to insert and remove. On another machine that I’ve tried, it had a very fussy drip tray that would need several attempts to sit right after re-inserting. I’m much happier with the tray on the Philips Barista Brew.✅ Drip tray has a dedicated section for grinds, presumably if you accidentally start to grind your beans before attaching the portafilter.✅ The smell of freshly ground beans. I had previously been buying espresso grind beans for another machine, and nothing compares to freshly ground.✅ Watching the pressure gauge. I don’t drink espresso pure, but use it for soy milk lattes and cappuccinos. So, I always tolerated a little wiggle room with the extraction on another machine. Having the pressure gauge on the front of the machine has allowed me to fine tune the grind settings to craft the perfect extraction.✅ Water tank handle placement. I love how visible and accessible it is to pull off the tank for emptying.✅ Removal of filter basket is smooth. I can remove the filter basket (once cooled) from the portafilter with just my fingertips. On another machine, I had to use a dull knife inserted into groove to pop it out. This is much safer.✅ Calibrated tamper. I needed this in my life! What I didn’t like❌ Narrowed opening to the milk jug. I find that tapered angle makes it harder to judge how full it is when filling. It also makes it harder to clean because I’d love to get my fingers in there, right to the bottom to give it a good scrub.❌ Temperature gauge on the milk jug is inaccurate and hard to read. With my jug, the “too hot” red shows up before the “just right” green. Maybe it’s because I’m using soy milk instead of dairy, but figuring out the right temperature using the jug’s colour indicators has been constant frustration.❌ Narrow and hidden water tank. I really wish it would be more common for water tanks to be on the side of machines so they are easier to monitor while in use. I also wish that this tank was wide enough that I could get my hand inside for scrubbing down the walls periodically.❌ I find the Americano spout height gets in the way. I don’t need that coffee shop look at home, so I don’t have dedicated glasses/mugs for espresso and cappuccinos. I just want to make a basic latte using my favorite coffee mugs, which are a standard coffee mug height. My mugs fit under the portafilter, but the Americano spout blocks it from sliding in further. If the spout was just a touch higher, it would be perfect for me.❌ The steaming wand takes A LOT of practice. And it will squeal at you in the most high pitched way if you’re using it wrong. I’ve scared pets with it and I’ve had one awkward question from a neighbour. (“Is everything OK at home? I’ve been hearing some concerning noises the past few mornings.”)Overall, this is a very good espresso machine. 4.5 stars.

    Stunning piece of machinery

Fantastic! My first mid-level espresso machine, bridging the gap between the cheap entry-level machines and the super expensive professional-grade machines! So many things about this I really like. It’s gorgeous sitting on the counter! I love the sort of rose gold/bronze color of this one. It does single and double espressos and Americanos with the press of a button. The hopper is a dual hopper that holds two different types of beans. You can switch between sides or combine them to make a half-caff if you use decaf in one side and caffeinated in the other.Grind levels between 1-15. The grinder is smooth, not too noisy, and makes a nice fine powder for espressos. It comes with two single-walled (single and double) filters and two double-walled filters (single and double). The wand is nice and weighty and well made. It comes with attachments for the wand that allow you to grind your coffee right into the filter/wand. You can choose between auto grinding for a single or a double, or you can also manually dose by pressing down on the handle. It has a pressure gauge that helps you see if your brew is optimal. Makes a nice crema! Designated water spout for Americanos. The steam wand is a traditional one that rotates nicely. I have personally had a hard time getting it to foam, but I’m chalking that up to user error or plant-based milk choices. After a couple of tries, I’m now able to get the plant-based milk to froth perfectly. All in all, I’m super thrilled with this machine! I look forward to brewing a cup of something and experimenting a little every morning!

    Smooth Espresso

Very pleased so far with the machine — like others, the grinder initially wouldn’t work but you need to run it through an Espresso cycle before it activates. Way smoother and darker espresso than my Gaggia Classic Pro which had it’s water pump fail. Would recommend.

Very well designed, easy to use, excellent espresso coffee maker.

The Phillips espresso coffee maker is an excellent choice for espresso lovers who are newbie baristas as well for more experienced baristas. It is very well designed with a lot of thoughtful touches that are very useful such as separate buttons for the single and double espressos as well as Americano.Adjusting for the right ground size and the amount is very straightforward. A larger surface area for the group head for 58 mm portafilter leads to a more uniform and quicker flow of the extract. The adjustable tamper is of a precision type with adjustment depth and a sleeve that acts like a stop similar to other higher end tampers. The accompanying filter baskets are of very good quality with a dual and single wall options.Getting the right strength of the coffee extract was relatively easy after a few trial and error. The grinder appears to be off excellent quality as well and has worked well for both light roasted beans and dark roasted oilier beans. There are a few slight cons though – chief among them is a bit of a waiting time before the coffee maker is ready after it is turned on. The other thing I still need to get to work consistently is the frother. So far it’s a hit or miss and need further experimentation on my part to get the settings just right. The frother also makes a very loud shrill sound when in operation. Finally, the tamper as well the filter baskets are to be placed on top of the coffee maker but that invariably leaves “stubborn” coffee grounds on the roof of the coffee maker.Overall, based on its versatility and functionality and current price point, this is a great buy and I heartily recommend it for coffee and specifically espresso lovers.

Good espresso machine with proper 58mm portafilter

If you grinding dark roast beans(less moisture) and making double shot, attach dosing funnel with portafilter and place it on the drip tray below the grinder to reduce static. If you place it as instruction allocated dock, it will make mess on your countertop. I hope Philips make a longer dosing funnel that will help with static problems.

I was able to watch some YouTube videos to teach myself how to use the machine and some helpful tips to get the best tasting espresso. I highly recommend you go on YouTube if you having any troubles using the machine. I’m still learning but I’ve been making expresso non stop daily.

EASY TO USE-MAKES GREAT ESPRESSO COFFEE’S PROVIDED YOU USE QUALITY BEANS-4.5 STARS

My husband is the only espresso drinker in the household, which wasn’t a big deal in the past because he could get his fix while at work. He retired this year so I thought it would be a good idea to have a proper espresso machine in the house so that he wouldn’t have to always go out to get his fix and to also save the cost of buying individual espresso’s.This espresso machine is pricey but is an investment that will be worth it in the long run. The Philips barista brew semi automatic espresso machine arrives with everything you need to make an espresso with the exception of the beans and espresso cups. The manufacturer ensures that the machine and it’s accessories arrive in flawless condition. The first thing that I noticed when unpacking the machine is it wasn’t quite as heavy as I was expecting. The shiny steel is sleek, modern and high end looking, the matte anti fingerprint casing is much lighter and doesn’t have that sleek, modern and higher end look. While it controls fingerprints I would have preferred more of a shiny steel casing. This may be a me thing, my personal preference. The machine is easy to use, easy to follow instruction booklets are included. I basically plugged it in and it was ready to go. The operation of the machine is with simple touch buttons and each button is clearly labelled. Pretty much every button, knob and fill line is clearly labelled. The entire machine is compact and I appreciate that is was made square and with a lower profile. While this machine ensures that you can make an exceptional and easy cup or 2 cups of espresso, you’ll still need to source quality beans to guarantee a good espresso. Being able to easily grind the beans as you need them ensures freshness. The accessories that come with the machine are all made of high quality steel and have a nice weight to them. The PHILIPS barista brew semi automatic espresso machine is a good value for the price.

Aside from the brewing pressure and water temperature, I have total control. Wow!

The media could not be loaded.

*** The good 👍 ***✅ The Semi-Automatic Philips Barista’s final results pictures should speak for themselves but there are a few steps to follow and adapt to your style and preferences to get this kind of results. And a semi-automatic is precisely what I like. It handles the pressure and extraction. I can modulate and adjust everything else. I like the fact that I can start and stop grinding and brewing at the touch of a button. That’s a level of control that automatic machines don’t allow. Also, the steam pipe knob is very reactive which is another element that will contribute to getting in control of the brewing process.✅ I’m well aware that “unboxing” is not an interesting topic, but I would still like to outline one brilliant yet simple idea Philips had which can be seen in two of my pictures. Which is the plastic ribbon that allows easy and safe removal of the machine from the box. That was so effortless. No need to effectively destroy the shipping box while it lies on the counter. Just pull the Barrista out and start to use it! Wow!*** Additional Comments ***👉 I like my ristretto, well, ristretto. But for my better half and my brother, I use a “single” dose of grounds and press the “double” button for water. The crema will still be there but the coffee will be smoother and more diluted.🌐 I think that the video will answer a lot of questions that might arise in terms of size, sound level, and final results. I separated it into “unboxing”, “initial cleaning”, and “making coffee”.👉 In the making coffee part, the video shows me using a white paper filter on top of the ground coffee. I will not go into details, but it has a few advantages and is a part of my coffee-making routine.Verdict: 5⭐I hope my honest, real-life review will be helpful to you. If it was, don’t hesitate to like it!

    Really..really nice machine

Ok, this machine is only my second entry into real coffee drinker territory. I had another espresso machine, that was a little more general purpose. You almost couldn’t mess up making a cup on that one b/c it was erm..generic? I’m not sure how to explain that, but it was very simplistic and excellent for beginners. This one, is a step up from that. It is still very easy to use, but it took some getting used to as far as understanding the amount of grounds to use to keep the pressure gauge in the optimal setting. But, honestly- it’s not difficult- and this is coming from someone who HATES having to read intricate instructions- it’s not that hard.. And the pressure gauge and the instruction manual really helped me understand espresso dosing. It’s been a neat learning experience. The ONLY downside- and this is a big one- you will turn into a coffee snob. Like seriously, this is some of the best espresso I’ve made at home. I’m to the point now where I can tell that the beans were older vs a fresher bean that was properly roasted for espresso. I still think I can drink regular drip coffee from cheap-o places, but I ordered Starbucks the other day and I was offended at how crap that latte was. the difference is SO obvious.

I would say it’s worth it for sure to save money in the long run of buying at coffee shops and just making things right at home!!! Plus, I can make more than one in a day!

    Oh yeah!

This thing is awesome! Pricey, but awesome. Just for good measure, I tried this against the highest rated instant and regular espresso products I could find, and to make it an objective test, I had my brother and his wife taste it, without knowing which was which. And sure enough, they preferred the fresh ground espresso from this machine. One particular word they kept using was “clean”. They said it had a “clean” flavor, meaning that they could taste each flavor note much more clearly and individually, whereas the others had a good flavor, but it all seemed jumbled up and mixed together. I’ve never thought of it like that, but in that sense, I suppose good coffee is like good wine–you should pick up clear aromatic notes before you even take a sip, followed by distinct opening, middle and finishing notes in the flavor. And this machine seems to produce that. I don’t have the experienced palate that they do, since I mostly just drink herbal tea, but the fact that they picked up so quickly that there was a notable difference between the three cups, that seems to be a pretty good indicator that this machine is a solid step up. And I think it has to do with the fact that it’s freshly ground. I suppose from a technical standpoint, it’s not absolutely necessary to incorporate the grinder directly into the machine, since that does introduce another potential point of mechanical failure. But if you want the absolute best flavor, you’ll need to grind your beans immediately before brewing, so you’ll need a good grinder anyway. So for now, I’m giving this 5 stars, since it very resoundingly beat two different espresso products that had 4.4 and 4.7 stars, respectively. That’s pretty impressive.

    Fantastic quality

This espresso machine is high quality in all aspects. It has all the perks of an authentic espresso machine you’d see in a cafe, it’s just small enough to keep in a standard kitchen. The peripheral items that come with it are all absolutely stellar quality, and even the milk jug has a temperature gauge on it so that you know how long to steam your milk. The instructions are thorough, although as a beginner with this type of machine there is definitely a learning curve on the use of it. There are troubleshooting instructions about how to alter your settings if you aren’t achieving the right quality of espresso, but there are a lot of factors that can effect this, and finding the right things to alter can be a little frustrating. Even so, once you sort out your settings so you have the right pressure, grind coarseness, grind quantity, etc this machine can make some exceptionally tasty drinks. If you’re into having full control of all aspects of your espresso experience then this machine is a must-have in your kitchen.

I’ve had a lower level espresso maker for over a year and thought it made good espresso, that is until I got this machine!! Having your beans ground for each drink makes the world of difference. I like that the water reservoir is larger on this machine. It’s so pretty sitting on the counter and doesn’t take up too much space. It is easy to use. I like this espresso machine

The media could not be loaded.

I like this machine much more than breville. Breville was more loud, and it wasting a lot of water. This one good however grinder is a fail. It shoots down the ground coffee so fast that it bounces to counter no matter what I tried. I even bought deeper dosing cup and it didn’t stop it. One more thing needs improvement is that not easy to see water level. Because of grinder’s bouncing issue I am thinking to return this machine. Because having this bigger machine and a separate grinder doesn’t make sense.Update: I researched about the coffee bouncing: It turns out it is the static and it turns out it happens to any grinder. There are solutions you can do, something like spraying water to your beans. It is strange that it never happened to me before. But, I am keeping the machine. I was already happy with everuthing else.

I hated going to buy coffee but didn’t have a choice before if I wanted it. I like the frozen or iced coffee and shakes with espresso shots in them so every time its like 10ish bucks for a coffee. It’s crazy. I got this espresso to save me money in the long run (theres 3 of us so 10ish bucks a pop adds up quick). As I never had a espresso machine before I was pleasantly surprised that it tastes better than places I’ve gone before. Getting to put in as much or as little of the sugar/cream/flavor really helps. It’s pretty easy to use but remember that the portafilter for this one is 58mm so if you buy a tamp box or distributor you need to know the number. I really love it. This is my first one so I can’t compare it to a different one sadly but so far I can’t find anything wrong with it. I really like that is grinds the beans and everything.

    Awesome Espresso Machine!

The media could not be loaded.

This is a great coffee machine, and I’ve added to this review some tips on how to use it as well.First, what I liked about this coffee grinder and espresso machine combo. The machine is really nicely made. Everything feels good quality. I love that the water tank is hidden in the back and very thin. The coffee handle, came with 4 coffee extraction cups depending on what you’re making and how professional you are.The grinder works smoothly and the coffee that comes from the machine is delicious. I’ve tried espresso, double espresso, americano, and cappuccino, and all tasted great. I’m very satisfied with the quality of the product it makes. You can see I’ve made a cappuccino in the video, but I’m still learning that finishing part. So, I know… It’s too thick. I’m working on it!TIPS:- The manual says for espresso use 1-5 setting on the grinder. Well, on my machine that didn’t work well, as it was creating a bit of a puddle in the handle when I take it off, and not producing a lot of coffee in the cup. Basically the ground was too fine. On my machine, I used setting 6 and 7 and that was a lot better. It’s a trial and error process.- When frothing the milk for cappuccino, it’s better to hold the cup with your hand from the bottom (as seen in the video) to feel the temperature and avoid over cooking the milk.- For some reason, the top of the machine gets some coffee stuck to it after each use, so I clean the “head” if you will, after every use.One thing they can improve is the user manual. It was detailed and provided enough information, but it was fine print and difficult to find information. It would’ve been really nice if they made it more of a colourful experience with nicely coloured illustrations. It’s a fancy coffee machine after all. Make it a fun learning manual to keep around. In summary, I love this machine! I think I’ll have this for many years to come. Everyone that visits me are like, woah, that’s a nice one! And it is.

    Great little machine

Coming off from a super automatic, and honestly did not buy B- named brand because of pricing, I have to say I’m pleasantly surprised.Ok granted it is not as easy to use as the new Breville, and the milk frother takes a bit used to (also noisy), but given the quality of the accessories, the machine itself, I think the money is well spent. Unless you require absolute precision in your coffee making (which this machine cannot do), I recommend this simply because of the price point

    Amazing

I’ve never experimented with coffee as much as I have with this machine. There are so many smart features that explain such a high price tag for coffee. I’m not a coffee snob or connaisseur by any means. I only recently graduated from instant coffee and boiled hot water in the microwave, to a single serve k cup coffee machine. There is a really great video that explains all the features beautifully, it really helped me get a basic grasp enough to get started.Things that really stood out for me:The water reservoir is removable, making it way easier to fill. I live in a small apartment so this coffee maker lives on top of my microwave. This makes it difficult to reach on top to fill it up. Keep in mind that you do need to put it straight down or it won’t click into place correctly. It also has a very big capacity. I worked in a restaurant where we had a similar value model and the reservoir was much smaller than this one. Despite this it’s not huge or bulky. There’s space on top for all the accessories, like the extra filters and cleaning brushes.Everything is clearly labeled. There’s no doubt about what each button does.Despite being automated to a degree you are able to further customize those automations, including more water, stronger coffee, different ground consistency, even the temperature. This makes it very versatile.I haven’t seen it light up but I love that it has a descale notification. The water in my area is very hard, and things often get gummed up with hard water. It just looks nice. Beautiful, all shiny and sleek. My only complaint is that this beautiful flashy metallic finish shows all the coffee, milk and water splashes.Overall a great addition to any coffee lovers life. Highly recommend.

Beautiful Machine and Makes Excellent Espresso

She’s a beaut, Clark! I just admired her for a few days after I took her out of the box. She sat on my counter, taunting me with her beauty and suggesting she could make me very happy if I would just bite the bullet and read the instructions. I started reading the instructions, and then saw the QR code on the first page. Scanned that, watched the manufacturer’s 3 videos, and had a satisfying and tasty espresso with silky foam within 30 minutes (including the time watching the videos). I love the double bean hopper, enabling me to choose between 2 different beans. I currently have a blonde roast in one side and a dark roast in the other. A turn of the knob on top determines which bean I’m having. The espresso takes literal seconds to make once you get the hang of it, and it’s as good as my favorite local coffee shop. The first time I made it, it wasn’t as hot as I like. Tips and tricks on the 2nd (or maybe 3rd) video show how to set the temp. Watching the videos is key as this machine does not have a lot of buttons and some of the settings (like the heat) are changed via pressing 2 buttons at the same time. Once you have everything set to your liking, it’s very straightforward and a cup of espresso or an Americano can be made very quickly to get you out the door in the mornings. Or to impress your friends and neighbors. I did have another espresso machine prior to this one, but it wasn’t as customizable as this one. If you’ve never made espresso before, it will likely take you a little more time to figure out. Don’t let it intimidate you, watch the videos and get started. This is far from the most expensive espresso machine on the market, but I find it hard to imagine the more expensive ones could make a better cup.

    Very similar to Breville Express

I recently got into making espresso and started with the Breville Bambino plus so at least I’m pretty familiar with the whole process and how an espresso machine works but I was interested to get this as it’s bigger, has a bigger 58mm portafilter, built in grinder and other things so I was excited to try this. After using this a while I can say I really like it. The grinder works very well and has a good range of settings to get your desired coarseness. The quality of everything feels very nice and sturdy. I do enjoy the bigger portafilter compared to the 54. I also like the steam wand and steaming milk on this. There is a lot to go into but to give a quick and easy review this a very nice espresso machine. My only thing is I would say be careful about accessories you buy. I bought a normcore 58 portafilter and it doesn’t fit which is disappointing because I don’t like the stock portafilter. I think most people prefer a bottomless so I think if you’re like me and like to use different brand accessories try to make sure they match first.
