Excellent!
Fresh ground coffee makes mornings SO much better! I used an old time hand grinder for years, but alas, my arthritis finally brought that to an end a few years ago. I went without until Christmas when I received a lovely selection of whole bean Starbucks and had to purchase another kitchen gadget. And this CUISINART is wonderful! Yes, yes, yes I will be purchasing this one for gifts next season for friends and family. Love it, love my coffee!!!

Love all of it.
The hopper, the grind, the ability to measure. Makes me feel like a pro

Another great Cuisinart product
Works well. I particularly like the timer feature to control how much coffee is ground. My previous burr mill had a mechanical wind-up timer, which worked but I had to pay attention to how far I turned it very time I used the grinder. With this one once I determined the correct setting all I have to do is press the start button. No thinking early in the morning when still half asleep!Like all burr grinders I have used it produces some really fine powdered coffee along with the grind level selected but since I use paper coffee it’s no big deal.

Love the product
This is the best product if you are a coffee drinker. You can grind a good amount of coffee once. Very easy to use and durable material. I used it over 9 years and this is my second one. A fantastic kitchen aid!

Far less messy than others
All coffee grinders are messy for starters and I’ve tried all price ranges. This one is far less messy overall. Best way is to remove the coffee container after grinder from machine then while keeping the lid on tap it on your open trash can to loosen static then open the lid. The lid is where powdery residue gathers from static. This is only due to the static All grinding produces but the area the grinder operates stays far less messy than any others I’ve had. I use a percolator and set to a coarse grind and after 5 weeks I’m finding the coffee ground correctly and measure amount the same so I have not cleaned the bur yet. Good job and good price, don’t waste money on the pricey ones like I’ve done. I’m staying on the cheap from now on 🙂

Excellent Grinder for Fresh, Flavorful
Love my Cuisinart Coffee Grinder for a while now, and it has completely transformed my coffee experience! The grind consistency is fantastic, whether I’m making espresso, drip coffee, or French press. It’s easy to use, and the adjustable grind settings let me customize the coarseness to my preference. The grinder is also quick and efficient, handling whole beans in seconds without overheating them, which helps preserve the flavor. The stainless steel blades or burrs (depending on the model) are durable and ensure a uniform grind every time. Plus, the large capacity means I can grind enough coffee for multiple cups at once.Cleanup is simple, and I love the compact design that fits perfectly on my kitchen counter without taking up too much space. If you’re looking for a reliable, well-made coffee grinder that delivers fresh, flavorful coffee, this one is a great investment. Highly recommend!

Great coffee grinder.
Bought this exact model like 10 years ago, a few days the motor started sounding weak and yesteday it finally stopped. But very easy to use, just open the top lid put up to 8oz in. It can probably hold more, but i think it’s the bottom container that can only hold 8oz. Anyways, it has a safety so you dont go blowing ground coffee all over the kitchen, it wont start until the bottom platic container is attached so it catches the coffee. The top plastic piece, if you look at the picture it’s pointed right at a medium grind. I grind my coffee fine all the time so you just turn that whole top plastic part that holds the coffee, and just put it where you want. Finer to the left, coarser to the right. The on switch is right on top of the coffee catcher area and you set it by size in cups. I just grind about 4 cups worth at a time so i set it between 4-6 and I put between 4-6 scoops with my 2tblspn scooper. It grinds enough for 4 cups if you set it to 4 cups, so if you like so many tblspns of coffee that’s more then that, just set it at higher cup and it will grind everything you put in if you get what i’m saying. you just set it at a higher number cups and when its done grinding all the beans, you will hear the motor start whirring faster, then just put the cups lever down to 0 cups and it will stop grinding. I only make 2-4 cups of coffee at a time because i like to drink fresh ground/brewed coffee so i make small batches. So this thing lasted almost 10 years with almost every other day usage, where some weeks i used it a few times a day, some weeks just a few times that week, but i used it a lot. I guess some people say it has to be a conical burr grinder, and i think this one is flat, but it gives me a fine grind and i think the coffee tastes good. I dont get different size grinds like other people have stated with flat burr grinders. Happy with this so it’s my 2nd purchase.

Quite good – but a bit messy!
So far so good with this grinder. We are big fans of Cuisinart and all aspects of this item are pleasing. I have had several grinders over the years and this one seems to be superior. No matter how I manage it, there is always a little bit of clean-up on the counter with some minor spillage!

Good coffee grinder for the price and an upgrade from my old coffee grinder
I love drinking coffee made from fresh ground beans. This coffee grinder is an upgrade from my Mr. Coffee grinder, and I’m loving it so far.I wanted a coffee grinder w/ additional features that my Mr. Coffee grinder did not have – for example, a setting for number of cups that would grind the correct amount of beans instead of me having to measure out the beans to put in the grinder. This coffee grinder will grind the appropriate amount of beans between 4-18 cups of coffee. I set the number of cups, press the start button, and the grinder stops automatically when it’s done. No measuring. The only thing I’m not thrilled w/ is that the plastic slider feels loose and kind of cheap. It hasn’t broken or malfunctioned or anything. It just isn’t as high quality as the rest of the grinder. This coffee grinder has a hopper w/ a lid for storing up to 8 oz. of coffee beans. The hopper is easy to fill and easy to remove for cleaning. Cleaning the grinder is pretty easy, and it came w/ a little scoop/brush combo tool to assist w/ cleaning. My grinder has only gotten clogged once. It was easy to tell when it happened, and it was easy to fix. There are grind settings from fine to coarse. I typically grind for my drip coffee maker on the fine side of medium. I don’t have an espresso maker, so I don’t need to grind the beans ultra fine. The grind is uniform and consistent every time. The removable grind chamber is plastic and gets scratched up by the grounds pretty quickly. I would like to see a glass grind chamber, but I understand that would be more expensive, and the price for this grinder is a decent value. The grind chamber can hold enough grounds for up to 32 cups, but I typically only grind what I need each time and wouldn’t want to store grounds in the grind chamber for the next use because I don’t think it’s 100% airtight, and I don’t want my grounds to go stale sitting in there.I like that it’s small and doesn’t take up a lot of counter space. If I ever put it away, it would be easy to store. It is quite loud during operation, but that doesn’t bother me.I actually bought a 2nd one as a Christmas gift for my brother and sister-in-law because they have an espresso maker but not a coffee grinder. I want to give them the experience of drinking coffee made w/ freshly ground beans.

10/10 would recommend!
We had to get a new coffee grinder because our old one burned out and stopped working. This one had really great reviews and using it, we know why! It definitely gets the job done and super quick too! Also, the container that the grounds fall in to has only one tiny little section that is open in the back and it makes for a mess-free experience! Only thing I’d say is that it’s pretty loud, be we are good with it! 10/10 would recommend!

Closest to a coffee house grinder I have found!
I managed coffee houses for several years so I know grinders. I may be a bit premature in writing my review as my grinder is currently out for delivery. However it is replacing the exact same grinder that lasted over a decade. It outlived 3 drip coffee makers and 2 broken French presses. I use my French press now every single morning and the courses grind on this grinder is perfect. After I pour the water I let it sit for a minute until the grounds puff up. Then I gently turn the French press around and back and forth sort of swirling until that beautiful golden crèma covers the surface. Much better than stirring. Wait 4 minutes and perfect coffee every time without grounds in the bottom of your cup. When I was using a drip I found the center grinds to be very accurate too.

Consistent Results
This is a great, reliable grinder. A lot of other grinders leave you with an uneven grind, but whatever our setting is, that’s the results we get. We use this every day, sometimes more than once a day, and it just works right every single time. The parts fit securely and the design is easy to use.

Dented.
Arrived with a small (but noticeable dent) on the right side in the metal. Will keep it anyway if it does a good job grinding me coffee tomorrow. If not, back it goes.

Works Well At A Great Price!
We are lucky enough to live in an area where we can get fresh pre-ground coffee regularly. However, any time we wanted something that was only available in whole-bean form we had to use the store’s grinder. It worked, but you always got a little of hint of the previous grinder’s choice. We decided to buy a burr grinder (we have owned them in the past and liked them) but didn’t need a top of the line as we won’t be grinding huge quantities of coffee. I purchased this one based on other reviews (the fact that it matches our coffee maker is a happy coincidence!) and I’m glad I did. It grinds well on several settings. As others have said, it is a little loud but since we are only grinding a small amount at a time it is not a problem.I am very happy with my purchase and have no problem recommending it.

The BEST!
I purchased this grinder as a replacement for the one that was purchased 21 years ago (same model). It worked perfectly for 21 years and then started getting finicky about turning on over the last year. It appears that the on/off switch was the part that eventually failed. However, the grinder performed consistently and faithfully almost every day for 21 years. I’ve used the new one a few times and it appears to be the same sturdy reliable quality as the first one. I also really like the design of the pullout reservoir, coffee goes in the top and fills the little plastic container on the bottom that it’s easy to it pull out and dump into the coffee maker. I highly recommend it!

Works Great!
They say if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it. Well, in this case, it was broke, but it lasted eight years! So, we had to replace it and why not go with the same unit when we had such great success using it to grind our daily coffee?! This is a very nice burr mill that we have gained much use from over the years and now we replace it with a brand new unit that is exactly like the other one and hoping we get another 8-10 years out of it.Why do we like it?* It has a nice look with the majority being shiny stainless steel housing.* The hopper on the top holds a half pound of beans.* You have a choice of 6 settings for every type of grind you choose.* It does great on coarse grind for our French Press coffee, very uniform.* You hit the button and it stops when it is done grinding.* Once you figure out what grind you like, how much you want and what setting you prefer it is a simple process and then you just have to decide what kind of bean you want in there. It does the rest.* It is fairly easy to clean up, doesn’t take up too much space and best of all it works great and does it all quite fast.If either of us had anything negative to say about it, we’d have to say it is loud, but then if you aren’t hand grinding, what isn’t loud when it comes to grinding coffee via electricity? We’re happy with the product or we wouldn’t have purchased a second one of the same exact type eight years after the first one. Plus, it must be others feel the same because eight years later the company is still making the same model! Hope if you get one you like it!

Works good but noisy
I live in a hotel and man is this thing loud. But everyone I have owned has been. Run time / start stop is a little goofy. I did not read the instructions but I am guessing there is a reason for it. It grinds evenly. It does not always feed so great but overall I am happy for the cost.

Simple, easy, compact
Update: I just received a Capresso burr grinder for about $10 more. Both seem to do a decent job of grinding my beans. The Capresso is more compact, shorter, and offers more choices for how many cups, and as well, the Capresso is quieter. You could do okay with either brand, and time will tell which machine I will end up liking better. The Capresso seems to put out more coffee grounds so I don’t know if the Cuisinart isn’t as efficient or the Capresso is less efficient. Both make a great cup of coffee. For looks, and for a little more quieter, I’d go with the Capresso. For price, this Cuisinart is fine as well. A photo below shows them side by side.——————————–I bought this to go along with my new Cuisinart coffee maker that does not include a grinder (I didn’t want another grind & brew). This is a super simple burr grinder and that’s exactly what I wanted. You place your beans in the hopper, up to half a pound, and each morning all you do is press a button and in seconds your beans are ground to however you have them set: fine, course, medium. As well, you set the number of cups you will be drinking: 4, 6, 8, etc.Once your beans are ground, just pull out the plastic ground bean container and pour into your filter or whatever device you are using for brewing. It’s not super loud, but it’s not quiet either – that makes no difference to me, but if you want something quieter, you may want to spend more for a Capresso burr grinder, one of the more quieter ones on the market (I bought the Capresso for my son, but it’s over $100).It’s small enough and compact enough to fit beside my new coffee maker.I’m super happy with it. Should be easy to keep clean and last me for years (I hope) just like my regular old little Cuisinart blade grinder has. This is not a top of the line burr grinder, so keep that in mind that really good ones will cost you well more than the cost of this grinder. But for me, it’ll do just fine.If you are looking for a burr grinder that isn’t expensive and will grind your beans to make a good cup of coffee, simple and small enough to fit on your countertop, then this is a good one to try!

Consistency and quality
I dont know what the life expectancy on a coffee grinder is. If its 5+ years, then maybe I should lower the stars. I’ve had three of these. But thats over the course of 15+ years. They are flexible, adjustable, you can change the grind up. It works. And works. And works. Until years about daily (yes only every day) the motor just gives out.Pros:- adjust the grind size- adjust the quantity ground- large enough hopper for 1/2 bag of beans, not quite a full pound- plastic bin to hold the ground coffeeCons:- its not quiet, but no grinder probably is- its probably hard to solve, but I wish the ground coffee contains was more anti-static somehowWould I recommend: yesWould I buy again: Yes

Love it
I have been using this for quite some time. My family loves it! The bean reservoir works well and holds a good amount of beans. The chamber where the ground beans land is sturdy enough but you do need to be mindful not to hit it too hard or crack any corners. You turn the top to adjust between coarse and fine. It is a sturdy workhorse that has been doing great for quite some time without any issues. You do need to routinely clean the area where the ground beans come out of because it does get clogged occasionally but that is rare. Just do once a week maintenance and it is fine. This is fantastic and I would highly recommend it!

Great Until It Wasn’t
We purchased this in Sept 2023 and used it about once per month. Everything was great until tonight when after grinding 2 loads in the bean hopper, it stopped. We emptied, cleaned out every area we can see and it’s like there’s absolutely no power to the unit (yes we checked the outlet, it’s fine. Waited because we thought maybe over heated, not! ). Not what I would expect from a CUISINART product after 16 months.Tried to sue it the following day and works again, not sure what happened

Works great and quiet
This product works great. It’s a lot quieter than my old grinder. The large holder at the top is nice and a large selection for grinding sizes makes it usable for all applications.Only downside is, it doesn’t fill the container full. I use it to grind for espressos and then put In a sealed container.

Messy
This grinder works well. It has a lot of different grind settings. It’s easy to use …… BUT … it’s messy when you pull the ground coffee cup out of it’s holder.

Workhorse
I’ve been using this one for about 4 years. It’s great for both drip and cold brew. As others have mentioned, there’s YouTube videos showing how to disassemble and properly clean it. After 3 years of daily use I finally realized it needed cleaning. Manufacturer should probably include that information with the instructions. Now I clean it every few months and it just keeps working. Grinds quickly and evenly, has plenty of adjustment from fine to course grind.

Excellent Grinder
This grinder is just a little bit louder than I had hoped, but it does a great job! At the very coarse setting it appears to output almost 2 cups more than what is dialed in. For instance, if I choose 6 cups and hit Start I get about 8 cups amount of grounds. I know this as my percolator has graduated markings for the number of cups and 8 cups from the grinder made it to about the 10 cups mark on the percolator. 6 cups from the grinder makes it to 8 cups on the percolator. The percolator could be off as well so that is something to consider. However, that is not a big deal and I just adjust up or down knowing it is consistently 2 cups more than I plan for the percolator. The fact that it is consistently 2 cups off tells me it is doing its job well. I would recommend this to anyone who wants freshly ground coffee and wants the grinds to be consistent in texture (fine, course, etc).

Great Grinder
My husband got really into coffee and felt limited always having to pick from whatever ground coffee was available in stores. I got this grinder as a christmas gift for him and he’s been loving it as it opened up a whole new world of options when it comes to picking coffee as we are no longer limited by ground coffee only. He’s using it weekly to grind coffee for his cold brew and he’s loving it. It has held up very well for almost two years now especially for the affordable price!

Great little coffee grinder. Cuts the coffee herbs perfectly. I but the coffee from Costco and I started to grind my own beans and now I have fresh ground coffee every morning. Has great power and very easy to use. Smaller than a 6 cup Mr. Coffee maker.

Great Burr Grinder – Extremely Acceptable Price
This is my 2nd purchase of this grinder, my last one lasted for over 10 years with minimal cleaning. I expect if I clean this one regularly, it will last even longer. If you factor in the extremely low price for a burr grinder, that meant I spent around $8 a year for the services this product supplied and the 2nd one was lower priced here on Amazon. So overall, benefits/price is 5 star.Advice for use:- Play around with the settings at first, its automatic as far as number of cups are concerned but its just an average. I find that since I like a stronger cup of coffee, I’ll grind more beans for 8 cups than the 8 cup setting, I typically set it for 10 cups for my 8 cup coffee maker. Thats for my Bonavita which is inefficient making coffee. In my old Krups, 8 cups in the grinder gave me a good 8 cups in the coffee maker that met my strength goals. Also, play around with the grind courseness settings, I found that slightly less than medium works well for my drip maker, but that won’t ring true for every coffee making style or pot.Pros:- Fast- Good, even grind that preserves the oils without excess heat- Lots of variables, you can adjust the courseness from extremely fine to very course so it should work with any type of coffee maker. I use mine mostly with my Bonavita drip coffee maker now and my Krups before. I’ve also used it with my espresso maker with perfect results.- Bean bin hold at least 1/2 a pound of coffee, more than enough for several pots of coffee, I refill mine from my ceramic, sealed container as needed.- Grind bin is big enough for all coffee pots I’ve used from 12 cup Krups to 8 cup Bonavita- Extremely reasonable price ~$50 vs $150 for similar grinders- This is a burr grinder, steel or ceramic burrs and disks (they are a flat grey color, so not sure if metal or ceramic, but definitely not plastic.- My last one lasted for over 10 years, so I have high expectations for this one tooCons:- Loud, but I don’t have another burr grinder to compare it to. Not a factor most mornings, since the kids and adults all have to get up around the same time. On mornings that I’m making coffee extra early, I might grind the night before. FYI, while its grinding, I nearly always think of the scene from the Billy Crystal movie City Slickers where they decide to treat themselves to some fresh espresso and cause a stampede – if you haven’t seen it, definitely find it and watch.- Plastic grind bin does have a static cling. Unlike some reviewers, I don’t find it excessive and It doesn’t spray grinds all over the counter, so this might be a factor of your environment i.e. humidity, counter type, electrical outlet or even the clothes your wearing that day. This does cause some grind dust build-up on the inside of the grind bin – I simply give it a couple of strong taps while the lid is still on to shake them down before I open and pour into the filter. I think a glass grind bin would probably help here. (as an extra, we have found the bean dust build up makes for great espresso cookies).- Needs cleaning, since it is not static free, you will have to clean it infrequently – not every time you use it though, so it totally depends on your usage. I use mine every day for a pot of coffee and clean the grind receptacle as needed every few weeks and the main grinder every few months. Cleaning is not that hard and its relatively easy to take apart. BTW, I never cleaned the one dbm8 I owned before and it lasted for 10 years or more – in addition, after it died I took it apart to see if it was coffee grinds that did it in or something else. What I found was darkened circuit board around a particular capacitor, so electrical failure got it in the end.Overall I think you get a great buy for the quality, resulting grind and price. There are better grinders out there, for twice or quadruple the price of the Cuisinart dbm8, but why get one that is close in price and gives you only slightly better results. For me, this grinder works great and I expect years of satisfactory service from it just like its predecessor.

I am not a Professional Coffee Grinder,
-but I am a Professional Coffee Drinker ☕ 😉 ! We purchased this Cuisinart Burr Mill Grinder to replace a Braun Blade Type Grinder that did get the job done, but the grind consistently was not always the same due to the design but was worth what We gave for it. Started searching for a Grinder & came across this Cuisinart Burr Mill Grinder & saw the number of People that had purchased it & the high ratings of them so I started reading the Reviews. Comes highly rated, & while I didn’t read all the Reviews I read enough to suit My need for information. Of the Reviews I read several had stated how much mess You end up with while using it. If You ck My photo that is basically “the mess” I ended up with after grinding a whole 2# Bag of Amazon’s Bold Coffee Beans (which is Good Coffee if You like it strong I might add), & if You’ve ever ground Coffee You know that You will have some sort of residue at the end. What I had done as a precaution after reading the reviews-not knowing what to expect was while I was grinding I put a small amount of pressure on the catch bin with one hand while also holding the backside of the Grinder with My other hand just to make sure the catch bin stayed tight against the Grinders Base to reduce the Ground Coffee from escaping & You see in the Photo what We ended up with, again that’s a 2#’s bag’s worth. As far as the grind consistency it does a great job. I like a stronger Coffee taste, so We set it on the 2nd fine setting & the Cuisinart Grinder Delivered ! Happy with the purchase, & if the Grinder stands the test of Time will be extremely satisfied with it. As a side note We purchased thru Amazon in “Used Like New Condition” which I have done with several other items in the past with really good results as I have found that the ratings of the items condition is usually “spot on”. That being said I have sent 2-3 items back as I found them not to be as the rated condition stated, but again I have purchased SEVERAL Items this way & Amazon’s Ratings are at least 99% correct with them even stating scratches & even where the scratches are located, so buy with confidence-You can save Yourself some $ ! The Cuisinart Grinder We ended up with is actually the 2nd “used like new” We ordered, the 1st one turned out to be not as stated, sent it back & rec’d the 2nd one & while the box had been opened the Grinder had never been used, so We’re well satisfied with the purchase. This machine truly elevates the art of coffee brewing to a whole new level
The CUISINART Coffee Grinder, Electric Burr One-Touch Automatic Grinder with 18-Position Grind Selector, is by far the best coffee grinder I have ever owned. From the moment I started using it, I was impressed by its performance and features. The 18-position grind selector is a game-changer, allowing me to precisely adjust the grind size for any brewing method I choose, whether it’s a coarse grind for my French press or a fine grind for espresso. The burr grinding mechanism ensures a uniform grind every time, significantly enhancing the flavor and aroma of my coffee. The one-touch operation is incredibly convenient, making it easy to use even on busy mornings. I also appreciate how quietly it operates compared to other grinders I’ve used in the past.Another standout feature is the grinder’s capacity. It can grind enough coffee beans to brew multiple cups at once, which is perfect for when I have guests over or when I need that extra boost to start my day. Cleaning is a breeze as well—the detachable parts are easy to remove and wash, and the design prevents any mess from spilling over. Moreover, the build quality is superb. The machine feels sturdy and well-made, promising durability and longevity. It has seamlessly integrated into my daily coffee routine, making it an indispensable part of my kitchen. The sleek design also adds a touch of elegance to my countertop. In conclusion, the CUISINART Coffee Grinder is a top-notch product that delivers consistent results, user-friendly features, and excellent build quality. It has significantly improved my coffee-making experience, and I highly recommend it to any coffee enthusiast looking for a reliable and efficient grinder. This machine truly elevates the art of coffee brewing to a whole new level.

Great grinder. Use it everyday. Good buy.

Consistent Results
This is a great, reliable grinder. A lot of other grinders leave you with an uneven grind, but whatever our setting is, that’s the results we get. We use this every day, sometimes more than once a day, and it just works right every single time. The parts fit securely and the design is easy to use.

Grinds my coffee
Motor is loud. But, you are grinding hard coffee beans. This is my second one with this model. First one lasted about 8 years. Can’t complain. This one is a used one I bought on Amazon.

Works REALLY REALLY well until it doesn’t!
This grinder works great until it gets plugged up, then it’s into my shop to blow it out to get rid of the build-up in the grinding chamber which happens after 6-8 pots of coffee on ‘fine’ setting. The finer the setting the quicker the build-up so I only set it halfway between ‘medium’ and ‘fine’ and get 12-15 pots before cleaning time. If I didn’t have the air compressor to blow it out, I would have to get rid of it, and I’m seriously considering that anyway. It is very LOUD, but that isn’t a deal breaker as is the need for cleaning may be.Update: The necessity of cleaning out the grind chamber, the general mess it makes, snd the noise finally prompted me to throw it into the trash.

Super simple to use
Ordered this bad boy on 1/25, and I got it 1/27. The instructions couldn’t be easier to follow and recommendations for grinds/type of brew (drip/french press/espresso). This is my first time grinding my own beans so I made a few different grinds and I’m going to be trying them to see what I like and works best for me. But let me say I just made some Starbucks French Roast with a finer espresso grind for my Aerojet (it’s like a French press but easier to clean) and this coffee tastes fantastic no bitterness, smells great, it just tastes fresher I suppose because it’s fresh ground. So day 1 I’m happy a pig in you know what. This is a 10/10 for me!!!Also read a bunch of reviews and people complained about the noise, it’s easily much much quieter than any blender I’ve ever used.

Great Grinder
It’s a bit loud, but that’s to be expected with such a powerful grinder. Once you get past the noise, the results are well worth it. It grinds coffee beans evenly, every time.

Keeps on working
I’ve been using this grinder for 7 years now. Still works as good as new.Simple to fill. Simple to set the grind to fine or coarse or anything between.Simple to set how many cups of coffee you’re grinding for (this requires someexperimentation at first to get the gist of how many “cups” equals how manyscoops of beans to grind).Noise wise yeah it makes noise. It’s an electric burr grinder! Grinding coffee beans makes noise! The motor noise I suppose could be a little quieter, but IMHO 75% of the noise is the soundof the coffee being ground. The other 25% is the motor. So you couldn’t quiet it mucheven with a brushless motor and soundproofing, which would jack up the price. It does a good job of grinding the beans to the right level (fine to coarse). I do a lot ofcold brewing so use a very coarse grind, and 99% of the output IS coarse ground (about1% comes out as coffee dust).Bottom line: If I broke mine, or if it just stopped working finally, I’d buy another one.CLEANING IT: I found an online video showing how to clean this thing!Pretty much you just “unscrew” the bean bin. When the bin is fully screwed on (clockwise), the grind selector arrow (fine to coarse)which is ON the bottom edge of the bean bin is on the most fine grind setting. You can remove the bean bin by rotating it counter-clockwise up to the coarsesetting, and then just keep unscrewing it (you will notice the clicking noise thatindicates you are changing the grind coarseness stops after you pass the coarse setting).Once that is off, the top grinder plate is attached to the bottom of the bean bin,and the bottom grinder plate is at the bottom of the “hole”. Use a bristle brush toclean the bean chunks and coffee powder out. Then just screw the bean bin clockwiseALL the way back on (setting the grind to “fine”), and then turn the coarseness CCW tothe grind you want.

Nice grinder for the money, but loud
I had a smaller Cuisinart blade grinder with non removable cup that worked so well. But wanted a burr grinder and a removeable cup, plus one-touch grinding so I wouldn’t have to hold down the grind button. This checked all the boxes, except that it’s loud. If I wasn’t awake until I had my morning cup of joe, I am now!

Fine grind
I just got this and love it already! I love strong coffee and it has to be finely ground to have the strongest flavor. I bought a different brand before this one and the fine setting was still so coarse, it made flavorless brown water. Then I tried this one after reading other reviews and I couldn’t be happier. The fine setting is almost as fine as powdered sugar. It’s a great machine!

Everything Works, see review & photos.
Overall pretty happy with the unit.Test 1: Grind setting & Constancy. Did a test at 18, 14, 10, 7, 4, 1 (where 18 = coarse & 1 = fine) with the same exact beans with the bean holder starting at the same level every day. See pictures. Seems to be fairly consistent on the size of the grind and there is a gradation of coarseness over the full range of settings. However, with every grind there is a little glob of super fine ground coffee that comes out in the bin (see pic).Result: Way better than blade grinder, happy with the grind.Test 2: Timer. Played with the timer setting until it produced the weight that I wanted for my coffee maker (25 oz Mr. coffee), then taped the timer into position so that it wouldn’t move. Ground coffee every day and measured the weight. I ran out of coffee and had to switch to a lighter roast for the last couple of readings.Average: 1.16 ouncesStandard Deviation: 0.07 ounces (with 2 different coffees)Standard Deviation: 0.05 ounces (with same coffee)I did not try with different grind sizes, but I’m sure the output will change with grind size.Result: Can use the timer if you use same grind setting and same coffee. However the variation from one coffee to the next is not that much, so I will probably stick to keeping the tape on the timer and using a full bin of beans. Also, I feel like the timer (cup) setting is kind of flimsy and can move around, so I would tape it into position if you are going to use it. The other option (which I did for a while before I decided to really test the unit), weight the beans & pour into empty container and set grind timer on max & turn off when finished.Test 3: Taste. Well this is subjective but was interesting to experience the change in flavor of the coffee over the different grind settings.Result: My setting is 11 (and if you like Spinal Tap you might think this is funny). Probably will need to buy a light, medium, and dark roast and play with the grind settings to figure out which one I like best for all of those roasts.Enjoy your coffee! Cheers.

Workhorse after 5 years, 1,500 pots
Writing this because we’re shopping for a new grinder. Owned our DBM-8P1 for 5 years. We make a fresh 12 cup pot 6 days a week. 80 grams every day. That’s like 275 pounds of coffee beans. Hadn’t stopped to think about this until recently. Only complaint is the size of the bean hopper, too small at 8 ounces. Went looking for one with a larger one. OXO makes one that holds about half again as much, may get it.After 1,500 pots only had one failure after 17 months. Just quit. Cuisinart was easy to contact and they sent a new one. I read the reviews. Yes, is kinda noisy, no more that our blade grinders. Haven’t experienced the static issues. Coffee will build up on one side of the grind chamber, easily scraped off. And no leakage of ground coffee on the counter. Produces a consistent batch of grounds once we figure out grind and number of cups.I’m ashamed to say we have never cleaned the grinder, just learning the hopper is removable and found a YouTube video on how. Shame on Cuisinart for not including how-to clean in product literature. My philosophy is to use good beans and keep ’em dry. We drink dark roast and grind for drip coffee maker. Peet’s Major Dickason’s Blend and various dark roast from Sumatra. Never had a clog or jam.So will stick with my DBM-8P1. Cuisinart, if you’re listening, reach out.

Great grinder, don’t forget to unscrew bean hopper and clean the burr chamber periodically
Had mine for over 5 years and it stopped working today. Google it and found a youtube video on disassembling and cleaning this model. I’ve NEVER cleaned it before today! Shame on Cuisinart for not explaining how (and the need) to clean the inner burr chamber! After taking it apart and cleaning it with a small basting brush it works like new.

Grinds consistently
This is my first burr grinder. I wondered why my son’s expresso or French press was delicious. It’s the burr grinder. Because he had a Cuisinart, I also bought one. It produces an excellent uniform coffee ground. For years, I had used a blade grinder with inconsistent grinding which, at times, resulted in sour coffee, no matter if it was French press or drip. One downside is it’s noisy. The other downside is hard to describe but when opening the lid to the bean hopper, the “static” blows the outer skin of the beans everywhere. It’s bothersome but not enough for me to get another grinder.

Best I have tried in this price range (updated 12/2013)
12/31/2013Updating again, as this has been in use (daily) for over 2 years now, outlasting both the Krups and Capresso, and its’ warranty. If I needed to replace it tomorrow I would but another as it is the best of the 3 I have used and outlasted the others by a wide margin. Thus far it has cost me roughly $10/ year vs. the $100/ year that the Krups and Capresso cost (given their limited lifetimes). I am sufficiently impressed with this and the
Cuisinart SM-55BC 5-1/2-Quart 12-Speed Stand Mixer, Brushed Chrome
(mine is black) that I have replaced most of the appliances in my kitchen with Cuisinart, and coming from a hard-nosed consumer who is not typically a brand buyer, that says something! Highly recommended as a very functional, solid and reliable piece of equipment at a great price.original review (now 2 years old) appears below———————————————————————-Now that I have been using this for close to a year, I am adding an update to note that it has continued to work flawlessly. Given that the Krups lasted less than a year, and the Capresso had intermittent problems from about that point, I can say unequivocally that this is the best of the lot! At it’s currently listed price (between $34-49 depending on seller) it also costs roughly half of what I paid for the others! If it wasn’t humming along so smoothly, I’d buy another as a back-up at this price. I am very glad I do not need to 🙂 🙂 The Cuisinart tops the others in this range not only in performance, but reliability and durability too! After a bad experience with one of their high-end blenders, this brand has completely won me back with the performance of their burr grinder and stand mixer
Cuisinart SM-70BC 7-Quart 12-Speed Stand Mixer, Brushed Chrome
Highly recommended.Full review appears below————————————————————————- I am writing this review, as this is now the third burr grinder I have purchased in as many years 🙁 My first, the Krups
Krups GVX212 Electric Coffee and Spice Grinder with grind and cup selection, Black and stainless steel
I purchased because of good experience with their blade grinders. It was an expensive mistake! As a grinder it was so-so, and also quite expensive ($74 at the time of purchase, here). It lasted one year (which is what made it such an expensive purchase). The second Burr grinder I bought was the Capresso
Capresso 464.05 CoffeeTeam GS 10-Cup Digital Coffeemaker with Conical Burr Grinder
which had received good reviews on “coffee geek” (at least, good for this price range). As at least one other reviewer noted, this is the low end for Burr grinders. The highest quality go for 4-20x the cost. In terms of functionality, the Capresso was fairly similar to the Krups. It did however, cost less and last longer.I have just been using the Cuisinart for a few weeks (and so can not comment on longevity) but I am finding the performance superior to either of the other 2: The grind is more consistent, control of the grind is better (that is, turning the knob from medium to fine gives you a corresponding change in the grind. With the other 2 the correspondence was inconsistent. This is the only 1 of the 3 which did not clog when used with fresh oily beans!Yes, there is some static cling. You’ll get that on any grinder which has a plastic collector (and I believe the only sub-$200 grinder which has a glass collector is the Bodum… which is likely next on my list if this one gives out {and I hope it doesn’t}.Contrary to what another reviewer said, uniformity of the grind is not the only or even primary reason to buy a burr grinder. Better coffee is, and that better coffee is achieved not only by getting a consistent grind of the right size, but also by using a grinder with a motor powerful enough that it will not overheat and burn the coffee, producing a bitter brew. Thus far I am very happy with the Cuisinart. It bests the other 2 burr grinders which I have owned (and it is sad that I have had to purchase 3 in 3 years!!).After a disappointing experience with their blender, this company has been winning me back little by little. I have bought 2 Cuisinart appliances this year (this and the stand mixer
Cuisinart SM-55 5-1/2-Quart 12-Speed Stand Mixer, White
which I believe to be best in class (at least my personal experience has proven so).All that said I will just hope this holds up… but as of this writing, it is the best of the 3 in terms of performance, and the company provides the longest warranty (by just 6 months… but having had my Krups last just 1 year… well, that is significant!)

worked for 7 years
The Cuisinart grinder I purchased in 2018 finally bit the dust today. The blades had been seizing up, off and on, for a few months. Today it just didn’t work. I use the grinder 5-7 times a week. A coffee grinder that works, without fail, for almost 7 years is pretty good in my book. I just purchased the same one again.

Best grinder for the money
This grinder is easily the best value in a grinder you can find. My parents bought one years ago, and it’s still going strong. But they bought it because my older brother bought it years before them– His is also still going string. Then I bought it once I was on my own, and can honestly say not a single penny was wasted on this grinder. I’ve also bought one as a gift for 2 good friends, and none have had any complaints about it. So, these grinders definitely hold up very well in the long run.So, what is so great? Well, first of all, it grinds coffee according to the coarseness that you pick. It will grind fine for espresso, and course for french pressing coffee, and anywhere in between for the various drip methods. But, beyond that obvious feature, the grinder has never let beans get jammed into it. Some grinders that I’ve used can, depending on the setting, allow beans to get stuck in the hopper such that no more will fall through and the blades just rev to full speed, accomplishing nothing– That has never happened on this grinder. So no need to hit or shake it, or having to grind again to get enough grounds. The hopper holds plenty of beans. Easily a weeks worth (or more, depending on how frequently you drink coffee). While beans should be kept in air tight vacuums, this is is fairly well isolated, so it’ll be alright. The reservoir, also works fairly well. If I had to find a complaint about it, though, it tends to be statically charged, so the grounds tend to cling to it, or get attracted to it.The pieces that come with it also just toss right into the dishwasher (top rack). So, easy to wash from time to time. Not to mention, the grinder itself appears fairly stylish. Fits right in with other stainless appliances, or even if you don’t have stainless appliances, it looks quite good on the counter. Definitely something for any coffee lover to display.Others do complain that it is loud. But, honestly, I’ve never heard a quiet coffee grinder. I can’t recall an instance of me really being woken up by one, but my bedroom has never been close to a kitchen using one. And if it does wake me up, I’d probably be happy because it’s coffee time. For the money, I highly recommend this burr grinder. Sure, you can spend more on a grinder, but in my opinion there is no need to for the home user. Conversely, you can spend less on a grinder, but it probably wont be burr, and if it is, there will probably be some quality issues with it.Also, as always, Amazon Prime had this to me in 2 days. Amazon is awesome.

So Far So (really) Good
Bought this a few weeks ago and so far, so good. Home grinders often wear out in 6 months or so, but I DO like this better than others I’ve used in the past. Great grind style variety. Will change review if it falls apart in a few months. I did get the extended warranty for 7 bucks just in case.

Six Years, Used Every Day, and This ‘Pro-sumer’ Appliance Still Works Like New. This is ‘The One’ to Get.
I bought this six years ago to replace one made by Braun which was similar in design and function. Though I had the Braun for several years, it often had problems which I thought were common to all consumer level coffee grinders. The Braun had to be cleaned about every third time I used it, otherwise it would seize up and the engine could burn out–as my parents demonstrated with three of them in a row before my second Braun finally died.Because I had bought a Cuisinart coffee maker, I bought this grinder simply because it matched. I didn’t think it would be any better, and I was willing to go through the maintenance routine as I had for years just so I could have fresh ground coffee every time. But it turned out the Cuisinart is many times better, and makes the Braun look like a toy by comparison.MAINTENANCE: I very rarely need to do any kind of maintenance on it except sometimes when the weather is humid and the ground coffee is more likely to compact inside the machine. All I have to do at those times is take a toothpick and break apart the hard packed coffee blocking the shoot.DUMMY PROOF: Once, with the Braun this Cuisinart replaced, after cleaning it I forgot to put the bin which catches the ground coffee back on, started it to grind enough beans for a full pot of coffee, and somehow didn’t realize as I walked away from it that it was spraying coffee all over the kitchen. What a mess. The Cuisinart wont do that. If the bin or hopper are not properly in place it wont even start. So it’s fairly accident proof.NOISE: It is a fairly loud machine, but very easy to quiet. I used to try wrapping the whole thing in towels and oven mitts until I realized all I had to do was put one small towel on top, and place my hands on either side of the collar if I wanted it to be quiet. Of course, most of the time I don’t think about how loud it is, but sometimes if someone is on the phone or watching television in the next room I like to keep it quiet.SIZE: It’s about three quarters the height and width of my current
Cuisinart DCC-2800 Perfec Temp 14-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Black
and the hopper which holds the beans can hold enough for at least three 14 cup pots of coffee with room to spare. I typically keep my coffee in the fridge, but unless the beans have a chance to warm up to room temperature beforehand they don’t grind or taste as good.BOTTOM LINE: Short of purchasing a professional grade coffee grinder (aka ‘burr mill’) this is the best. I’ve been using coffee grinders for about twenty years, have owned a few different ones and this is ‘the one’ to get.

The efficiency is much higher than manual grinding machines
The grinding speed is too fast, it only takes a few minutes to grind 8 ounces of coffee beans, and you can freely choose the thickness. There are two minor issues: first, fine powder has static electricity and can run around randomly. The second issue is that the quantity of ground powder is not very accurate. But these don’t affect him becoming a good friend

Great grinder for cold brew. Not perfect but a very nice grinder for the money.
The media could not be loaded.
OK, you may be asking yourself why do I need to spend this kind of money on a coffee grinder machine when I have one of those inexpensive rotary blade spice grinders? That is what I was saying initially.I used to be a huge coffee drinker and as I got older the acid began affecting me in negative ways. I tried store-bought cold brew in bottles and that seemed much better. It didn’t bother me nearly as much. So, I began a quest to brew the perfect cold brew cup at home. I spoke to baristas at Starbucks and other coffee shops on how they do it and looked up recipes and stories on the web. Cold brew is easy to make but I was not having great success. Mine was more bitter and had an acid taste. I mentioned my results to a coffee maker at Starbucks one day and he said the trick is to use the right grind and well filtered water (which I was doing, I was using RO) . So, I asked about the grind. He said get a burr grinder and set it almost to maximum course grind. That is when I decided to pull the plug and buy this grinder.Well, I love this machine. It is not perfect, but it is excellent. And if you get it on sale or with a coupon it is more than worth the money, really. I know it is hard to believe that a grinder type makes such a difference, but it does, and you WILL notice it on the first sip.The CUISINART burr coffee grinder is a quality machine. It is easy to operate, offers quality grind from fine to course. I think the settings should allow for an even courser grind, but it works for me as is. Depending on what you are drinking, espresso to cold brew, you require a different grind and Rotary blade grinders don’t get it done correctly even if you try and time it to get the right coarseness. Don’t ask me why but they don’t. You get a much more consistent grind with this. The difference in the brew quality is noticeable, honestly. What I really like about this machine is it dispenses the right amount of coffee at the right grind, once you dial in what you like you get a consistent cup like never before. All you do is pour in beans in the hopper, set the desired degree of grind and then slide the switch to the number of cups you plan to brew, then hit start. The machine runs and stops, and you’re done, you have the right amount at the right grind. Fantastic. Not too strong too weak or too bitter. Yes, you will have to experiment a little bit to get your settings to what you prefer but it will not take long and once you have it set it is a simple push of the button.Positives:• Produces a wide range of consistent grinds.• Love that it dispenses the right amount of coffee.• Reasonably priced for what it does and the quality of build• Major brand (should have decent customer support)Negatives:• Could offer a little more course setting.• A bit loud• Takes up some space on counter (pain to put away and take out)• Needs to be cleaned from time to time.Overall, I love this grinder as I am drinking my best cold brew ever right now. It is not a perfect machine, but it is close enough for me, does what I want and is a good value. I highly recommend this machine if you are a coffee lover and appreciate a quality brew. I give this item 5 stars because of the results; the machine is about 4.75 stars because it could be courser and a bit quieter. Love the grind selector and the fact it dispenses the right amount, that is really great. It works very well.3/17/24 UPDATE: Still loving this machine. No issue whatsoever. After reading some of these other reviews, you have to judge a product AND the cost for the best value and if it meets your needs. At this price, it is a very nice machine. Yes, there are more expensive commercial style machines. This is a home machine that will grind your beans for whatever you are brewing. I read some other reviews and feel some were a little biased because they had used commercial style grinders prior, and this is not as nice. Well, Bentley’s are better than Chevy’s but they both get you to where you are going safely. This is a home item, intended for intermittent use, not a commercial continuous-use machine. All that said it gives you a quality grind for whatever coffee brew method you are choosing. Also, Cuisinart is a big-name company that stands behind your purchase. If your item is defective or for some reason breaks, I am sure they will remedy the issue. Over 10,000 of these were sold just on Amazon last month! THAT says something. It’s a good deal for a home machine.5 starsThis is my honest review of this item; I hope it was helpful to you in making a purchasing decision.

This one lasted 11 years.
This has been a great coffee grinder. This has been the second one I have owned. The first one lasted 9 years and this last one 11 years. I think that is pretty good for a countertop appliance. The grind may have not been as uniform as a more expensive grinder, I don’t know – I didn’t measure each particle. I am not that anal. All I know is I used it daily, sometimes more than once a day, and it functioned perfectly for my needs. Yes, it is loud. But it is a coffee grinder, I don’t think it is supposed to function quietly. My Vitamix is also loud, but it is a solid unit. I am not sure about static electricity produced, spinning metal sometimes produces some static/magnetic fields but it wasn’t enough to produce an EMP or shock me, so I think that is a nonissue. This was easy to use, I never cleaned it or did any maintenance on it (except to wipe off the outside of it) and it has plenty of power for the task for which it was designed. And it worked flawlessly for 11 years.

Durable long lasting kitchen appliance
Banana for scale. I have owned this product for over two years. No issues. Easy to set up and use. Extremely user friendly. It provides a lot of flexibility for how and when you want to grind coffee. It is relatively fast (30 seconds for 4 cups, 1.2 minutes for 12 cups). It is loud. If I need coffee early when others in the house will be asleep, I grind the coffee the night before. The only draw back is that it can be hard to deep clean and whatever you do, don’t wash the grinder! Just wash the detachable bin. If you have a lot of different coffee beans and interchange them a lot and don’t want flavors mixing, this may not be right for you. But for regular freshly ground coffee, I would buy again.

This grinder can handle a bean…
From its packaging to its easily understood instructions to its infinite adjustability, this coffee grinder definitely deserves a swipe right. It arrived ready to go to work and good thing too because the Mrs. was getting decaf-cranky after purchasing whole bean instead of ground coffee down at the Piggly. Thank goodness Amazon Prime got this peacemaker to us overnight.Once unboxed, I set the grind and the desired number of cups. I loaded the beans and pressed start. The ensuing stimuli can only be described as delightful…a veritable Golden Corral-level buffet for the senses. What I heard was the smooth engagement of the motor spinning the precision-milled grinding blades in near silence until the beans spilled ever so gently into the smooth whirl to meet their perfunctory fate. It was not violent, but more as if the power of the grinder could handle river rock and all I loaded in the hopper was coffee beans.I felt the Cuisinart effortlessly thrash those beans into perfect grounds – not a shake or a shudder on the counter – just mechanical magic in motion. Our last grinder jackhammered across the counter spilling ground coffee like a dump truck in a construction zone. Not this little gem. Solid. Stout. Stable.I saw the grounds pour into the capture vessel without a single clump or clog in the process. This powerful machine literally ejects the coffee into the tank. Gravity has no place in this process. The grounds pile up in the hopper like sand in an hourglass but instead of being out of time, you are in for the time of your life when this unit automatically shuts down at the desired amount of coffee. The smell… The aroma of ground coffee is hit or miss. This little dragon breathed in mere beans and exhaled coffeehouse-level aromas unrivaled in this household. Sometimes a grinder will “burn” your beans in the process. Not this one. It perfectly filled the entire house with the “come get me” scent of morning go juice. The taste. The brewed coffee made my knees weak. Listen, the perfect grind will tend to yield the perfect cup, but everyone’s “perfect” is different. This grinder met my expectation of perfect – not too coarse and not powdery. Once introduced into our ‘more appreciated than our fifth kid’ Cuisinart coffeemaker, this ground goodness produced a pot of coffee more smooth than my 1985 prom moves. It was way less bitter than wife #1 and it tamed the beast within #2.This is no Starbucks $2000 grinder, but it sure thinks it is and you can’t tell me different. 10/10 recommend this grinder to all that need to work a bean over into a steamy cup of joe…or jo. We don’t judge here. Go get you one and get another to give as a gift to the friends you like best.

stops grinding after
you can use it for a few time but it stop working then you have to take it apart and clean it so where it clean enough to grind again apparently the fresh coffee grinds will clog it upin ten years this is the second one it still the best

Love it
I love this coffee grinder. I have purchased a couple cheaper ones prior to getting this one. This one grinds very fine which for espresso is great. I love that it can hold beans at the top that way you don’t have to continue loading the beans every single time you make a pot of coffee. Love love love this product!

Super great value for your money
I was getting weak coffee and and now it’s so much better. You really do need a burr for your beans

Cuisinart DBM-8. Bottom line: great value for your dollar
OMG there is static cling!!!!! Relax. This is not a $10,000 dinner dress for a formal dinner with the President. This is an inexpensive coffee bean grinder. And a damn good one to boot! This machine was purchased to replace my six-year-old, super reliable Mr. Coffee burr grinder which produced one to three pots of excellent coffee every day. And, this Cuisinart blows it away. The first surprise came opening the box. The unit was assembled! I’m not accustomed to that and actually took it apart to make certain that there wasn’t something that might do harm inside. There wasn’t. This is a read the manual, wipe the dust off (maybe – I didn’t), load the beans, and make coffee operation. And, this machine grinds a great cup of Joe.The next thing I noticed was the quietness of the grinder. This is a real subjective issue. To me, either because the old grinder got noisier over time or because my hearing is going away, this Cuisinart is much quieter. Don’t misunderstand. Burr grinders are not vacuum can quiet. There is noise. It’s a matter of degree. And at least the cats don’t run when I turn this one on. Oh, did I mention it grinds out a great cup of coffee?.The reason for that great cup of coffee is the consistency of the grind. It comes out the same time after time. It is something we all expect, but don’t always receive from our equipment. This Cuisinart does an admirable job in that department. The other item that really pleases me is the ease of cleaning. I normally give my coffee maker and grinder a good cleaning once a month. Cleaning is a snap. Empty the beans out of the hopper and into a bowl. Remove (unscrew) the hopper assembly, wipe it out (preferably over the sink), and use a small, soft brush to knock any remaining bits out. I had an old bristle paint brush that I used for the longest time but upgraded to one of the fancy, elite ones. Funny that they both work the same, but the new one is prettier. Anyway, clean the grounds from the chute, wash and dry the grounds cup, reassemble and you’re good to go.Bottom line: great value for your dollar; makes better coffee than I can find in the local coffee shops; past experience with Cuisinart products indicates that it will last for ages.By the way, if grounds clinging to the plastic retaining cup are really upsetting, grinders with glass receiving cups are less prone to the problem. The ones I looked at were in the mid $100’s. All I wanted is a damn good cup of coffee.

Excellent grinder that controls the mess
I’ve always had an issue with other grinders that allow the ground material generated from grinding to escape from the collection chamber, making a bit of a mess whenever I grind. What I like about this Cuisinart Coffee Grinder is the output is confined within a small spout that deposits into the collection chamber. That chamber has a lid, so when removing it from the grinder there is little chance of material escaping. This is a huge plus for me.The grinder itself is excellent, with a multi-setting for grinding and a decent sized hopper. I am not thrilled that when you turn the top to adjust the grind strength that the hopper is then at an angle, but that’s a pretty minor issue, and not really an issue but aesthetics!Definitely a good buy.

Great grinder at a great price
As a budding coffee enthusiast, I looked long and hard at the grinders here and different information regarding blade versus burr grinders. Apparently, burr grinders produce less heat (preserves the taste) and make more consistent grinds than a blade grinder and so the former is preferable to the latter. With that, I also found that the blade grinders weren’t that much cheaper than a burr grinder like this one so I opted for this product.I must say that I am VERY pleased with my purchase. Like others have said, if you are expecting this thing to never make any powder, or to make perfectly super finely ground coffee, you’re hoping too much for it. For my purposes, I don’t want my coffee ground that finely anyway—I drink coffee from a french press, so it’s supposed to be more coarsely ground. I really like how you can set how much coffee you want, hit the Start button, and it will stop on its own. From what I understand, for the blade grinders you have to sit around and push the button until you get the consistency you want.Yes, this guy makes noise—but would you think that something that is pulverizing coffee beans into smaller grains is going to be a silent affair? I actually am amused by the noise it makes and enjoy watching the beans falling down and coffee being shot into the grind chamber. Besides, unless you’re constantly grinding coffee, the noise lasts for at most about a minute, less if you don’t grind that much at a time (I only set it between about the “8-12 cup” range on the machine)Strangely, I don’t have that much of an issue with static with the plastic grind chamber, which is a complaint I’ve read more frequently here in the reviews. Yet, I live in an area that has very dry air, hence I would think it would be a bigger problem. When I take the grind chamber out, I just give it a couple light taps (to get the grinds to settle a bit), pull it out, and dump the coffee into its personal airtight container. I then just flick the powdery leftover from the chamber body and lid into the sink and wash them. I’m not sure what’s going on with other owners in having the “static cling” problem.I think this grinder is a perfect start-up machine for anyone getting into grinding their own coffee. If you’re using it to make coffee for a french press, through a drip coffee maker (in other words, nothing that needs super consistent, super fine grinds), I think this will do it for you. If a buyer does not have unrealistic expectations of what this machine can do, I think he or she will be very satisfied with the purchase.UPDATE: January 2011I just wanted to throw out there that this guy is still trucking along just fine. And I still don’t have a static problem either, even though I live in the desert, and it’s dry as all get-out here. Unless you’re a true coffee connoisseur / coffee snob, this grinder will definitely be more than enough for most everyday needs. I actually stop and watch the beans go down and listen to them get ground up….so the noise issue that people complain about isn’t an issue for me. Combine this guy with a french press and you’ve got absolutely divine coffee.UPDATE: March 2012This is *still* chugging along great! So I’m not sure what may have happened with anyone who suffered a durability issue; might have been just the individual product. Still producing great grinds for great coffee =) Noisy enough to scare my cats but a non-issue for the 30 seconds or so it’s working at a time for me.

The Grind. The Daily Grind.
The beans, they go in full of promise, round, fragrant, bursting with potential and caffeine. Sweet nectar of the gods, those beans. Full of the good stuff – the caffeine. The day doesn’t start without the beans, and they know it. Boy do they know it. The beans are tough, they put up a fight. There’s no quit in those beans. But eventually they crack. Everyone cracks.Sometimes just the threat of pain will cause them to crack. You show them brass knuckles, or maybe a ball peen hammer. Some clippers, big clippers, like hedge trimmers. Better if they’re a little rusty, streaked with blood.Everyone cracks. But these beans, they need something special. They hold out longer than anyone I’ve ever seen – even Milo, that sadistic SOB, couldn’t crack these beans. He brought out the car battery, the jumper cables, the heavy weights that tie to your … makes me shudder just to think about it.But the beans didn’t crack. Then I bought a CUISINART Coffee Grinder, the good one, the kind that has a big plastic container at the top to hold the beans in for a long, long time. Let them sit in there and stew, look down to the bottom of that well, and see the electric burr grinder, the one with the 18-position grind setting. The beans, they saw that burr grinder, they started sweating.Just one touch of the one-touch Automatic Grinder, and the beans, they cracked. They all cracked. Ground into fine, fine dust, suitable for my espresso machine. I adjusted the 18-position grinder, and added more beans to the giant plastic well. There was no going back. Pushed the button again, and some coarse grinds, this time for the drip machine. Even a little more coarse, this time for the French press.Because the grinds, the fine, silky smooth grinds, the thin dusty layer of grinds, with that delicious aroma and the impending promise of caffeine. That was all that was left of the beans after they cracked. And everyone cracks. Especially in a CUISINART Electric Burr One-Touch Automatic Coffee Grinder.

This is great!
This coffee grinder is excellent! I used to use two small grinders in tandem, to grind a large batch but now I just have to put the beans in and press start! The grind is perfect. I keep reading other reviews that say it’s messy, but I don’t think I’ve seen a grinder yet that doesn’t make some kind of mess!

The grinder I was looking for
I have been grinding our coffee beans for 30 years. I have always used the Cuisinart spice grinder. I recently bought this one and it is a game changer. It is loud, so I push the start button and leave the kitchen. But it grinds consistently and automatic. Great quality, easy to clean and produces the best coffee we could ask for.

great product
It does just what a grinder is supposed to do. With convenient adjustable grind setting, a large hopper and easy remove catch bin this grinder is simple with no extra bells and whistles that don’t add to the grind quality.I’ve had this grinder for almost two years with no issues. It’s holding up just fine.

Excellent grinder and durability – last one lasted over 12 years
We love this grinder. This is our second one after our original finally died after years of daily use (I think we probably had that one 12+years).You can dial in the grind size and the quantity. The hopper holds a fair amount of beans and is very easy to refill. It takes up little room on the counter. And the “on” button is nice and big, which makes it easy to use in a bleary-eyed, sleepy state.I would absolutely order this for a third time should this one ever stop grinding.

Great mill!
This is the first mill we’ve used. It provides a much better grind and control than the blender styles which are inconsistent and break down much quicker. Love that I don’t have to measure out beans every time. I just keep the hopper filled and it produces the exact amount and courseness I want every time. I also love that I don’t have to hold a button down during the whole grind. I keep the selector at the max number of cups (18). I grind more than I need and the grounds are available when I want. With two grindings, the catch container has about 2.5x what I use for each pot.Two drawbacks-1) Do NOT use if anyone in the house is trying to sleep! This mill produces a loud, high pitch noise reminiscent of the world’s largest dental drill digging out a hippo’s cavity! If you’re an early riser like me, I recommend doing your grinding the night before, thus preventing the locals from chasing you down the street with pitchforks and shovels.2) There is no OFF switch. If, for some reason, you want to stop the mill before the grind is finished, you have to unplug it from the wall while it is running. Let’s say the noise has torn a hole into another dimension in your kitchen and a Kraken HellDemon is coming thru for coffee. An off switch would be very helpful!Luckily, this only happened to me twice and as soon as I pulled the plug, the HellDemon realized he wasn’t getting coffee and turned back, healing the tear once he was gone. Both are a small price to pay for a better grind than the blender style grinders. The quality and efficiency of the mill still merits 5 stars.
